It was just a massive learning process for me,” he says. His career-making first album left an explosion of copycat bedroom producers and sonic imitators in its wake, meaning Flume has to ditch certain sounds styles because others picked them up and popularised them.
Flume’s debut album which is self-titled was well received in 2012. It had far fewer collaborators like Moon Holiday, Chet Faker, and Jezzabell Doran and a few more. The album went up to No. 1 on Australian iTunes charts. It reached double platinum in Australia and even went on to win ARIA awards in four categories. The album was released by Mom + Pop Music in the USA in 2013. He toured the US with Disclosure in 2014 and received a great response from critics for the album. He has been seen atLollapalooza and at the Coachella Music Festival, he debuted his remix of Lorde’s Tennis Court to critical acclaim. The album is being released through various agencies in different parts of the world. In the USA, Mom + Pop Music will be releasing his music. He said “Some really got it and were really into, some were a bit confus[ed] but that’s good…it’s just different… The beats flip up, it’s kind of complicated and it’s not festival music, it’s more headphone [music]. So some of it, I think was pretty challenging, and some of it went really well, but overall I think it was a really good outcome.”
