Should’ve Been Me is the new single song by English producer, songwriter and musician Naughty Boy with English singer, songwriter Ellie Goulding which is expected to release via itunes by This Friday May 27th 2016 Digitally. According to Naughty Boy, Ellie was in between tour dates herself when they recorded what became their debut collaboration, titled “Should’ve Been Me.”
Naughty Boy – who has previously worked with the likes of Sam Smith, Emeli Sandé and Beyoncé – has teased his and Ellie’s song has a Jamaican “dancehall” feel with a touch of “reggae” and is sure it will “surprise” everyone.
He said: “Ellie is perfect for what’s next. I wanted to make something summery she is such a lovely person. The song has got a dancehall feel to it, it’s a bit reggae almost. I think people will be surprised. Ellie’s on a world tour at the moment she is so busy so to take the time out to work with me was great. She has haunting vocals and I don’t think you are ever going to hear her on a song like this.”
“I want to make something summery,” he says. I want to make something feel-good. And she’s such a lovely person. And when you hear this song as well, it’s got a bit of a dance vibe to it. I think people will be surprised. … I don’t think you’re ever going to hear her on a song like this again. ‘Cause it’s got the same haunting vocal, but it’s still got all the rhythm, and all – there’s something really contemporary about it. It is quite a bit reggae-ish.”
